homemade waffles.

goal? make more homemade recipes!
i LOVE to bake, however, i am often times so excited for the finished product that i skip homemade 'from scratch' recipes & head for a premade box recipe...
not anymore! from now on, I am on the search for delicious recipes that don't involve betty crocker or in this case.. aunt jemima!
waffles. yummmm! here is a recipe i found on pinterest that looks oh so delicious :)
THE PERFECT WAFFLE
2 Eggs (separated)
2 cups flour (sifted)
3 tsp. or 1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tablespoons sugar
2 cups milk
1 Tablespoon vanilla
6 Tablespoons shortening

Cut shortening into flour, baking powder, salt and sugar that have been sifted together. Use a pastry cutter, or just a fork. Cut the shortening into the flour until blended well. Beat the egg yolks, vanilla and milk together; add to the flour mixture, and beat with blender until combined. Beat the egg whites until stiff, and then gently fold into batter. You may add raspberries, huckleberries etc, to this batter before pouring into waffle maker.
