a happy little gift guide: isla's turning TWO!

one  \\  two  \\  three  \\  four  \\  five  \\  six

Isla turns two this week & I’m so excited to celebrate her again! She obviously has no requests or needs as far as gifts go, but it’s always so fun to put together these little gift guides.
1. This straw bag is the very cutest. She’s always stealing all of my bags and dragging them around the house, so I think she’d enjoy one that looked like mine but was all her own.
2. These fairy friends books have the prettiest illustrations and are by far some of the better primer books out there. We read every night with the kids and books are my favorite thing to buy for them. I like the simplicity of these. We have the "Opposites" one and the kids ended up memorizing it & “read” it all on their own.
3. Dress up is one of our kids favorite things to do. They will always choose activity or imagination over any toy, and our costume box definitely needs updating! The girls love alllll princess dresses, and all three of them love to play super hero’s or pirates or wizards at Hogwarts!
4. How sweet is this swan?!
5. Both of the girls refuse pants most of the time and even at night they’ll choose a nightgown over a set these days. This one looks simple and pretty, and these are really fun too!
6.  This year might finally be the year we are going to get the ride on jeep. We’ve talked about one for a couple years now, almost got lucy one, almost got it for abel, and in the end had parties for them instead, because I really just love a good gathering & any reason to celebrate, decorate or eat!

Thanks for stopping in! xoxo

lucy's turning three! a gift guide.

These gift guides are seriously so fun to put together! I started doing them a couple of years ago + it's just so sweet to curate little kid things. Lucy is turning THREE in just a few weeks + mostly I cannot believe it. It's different with her, because she's an old soul + has never seemed her age in any way, but it's still like WHAT?! Our baby girl is three? She's so wonderful + I really wish everyone could know her the way we do, but I'll save all of that for another post. Onward!

1. \\ Ballerina Dolly
This little ballerina doll is precious in every way, and I felt like Lucy needed to have it from the first time I saw it at Target. She does love "ba-way" after all.

2.\\ Books!
I know, broken record here... but children's books are just the best. There really are some good ones out there + because we read before bed each night, it's nice to have a good variety!

3. \\ A pretty white nightgown like her mama :)
I became a pajama wearer this last year (story for another post) but my favorite jammies are my pretty white nightgowns. They are feminine + comfortable + you really just cannot not feel like a million bucks in them. Found this sweet one for Lu, because I can't ever skip a matching opportunity.

4.\\ New leotards for Ballet
Lucy would wear her ballet clothes all day every day, and since fashion isn't really a fight we choose in our house, I mooostly let her, so like the books... a variety is nice, visually, and also helps me not have to wash laundry as often haha.

5.\\ Knotted headband to match her sis.
My Mimi got Isla the pink version of this knotted headband for her birthday, and it's just so dang cute, I feel like Lucy would look cute with a matching one.

6.\\ New Watercolors + Paper
Lucy's Paintings are my favorite ever. Some of them actually come out similar to some of my favorite artists + it's so awesome. We hang them up in her's and Abel's room, and I have a stack of them set aside that I need to buy frames for, so we can hang them up in the house. Her watercolors are the best + so new paints are a happy gift to her + to me.

7. \\  Jeep
Umm, how cool is that jeep? I think she will feel like a Bloom in it ;) and also, it will be so much fun for her to drive around with her siblings, or race Abel in his ATV.

Thanks for stopping in, Happy September! I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!

Isla Jane is ONE! a Gift Guide!

Sweet Isla is having the smallest of birthday gatherings, just family in the park. She needs next to nothing, but I always love putting together these sweet little gift guides + maybe inspire your gift giving for fellow one year olds in your life!

1.\\ Jammies Forever. I love sweet jammies + these fruity ones from here are so precious.
2. \\ Blocks! These wooden ones with the different shapes aren't like any of the ones we have at home. I like that the big kids can get creative with them as well. Maybe they'll build me New York City again :)
3. \\ A Sweet Dolly. Lucy has the pink version, so you know... sisters, and matching, and dollies and what not.
4. \\ A Pull Behind Toy! Each of our kids have enjoyed a pull behind toy at one point or another + this little guy makes me smile when I look at it. (Has already been purchased)
5. \\ Boooooks, and more books. Can't get enough books. These are all on Amazon.
6. \\ Clementine Kids Quilt. We love our muslin quilts, they are the perfect size + weight for littles, and pretty to look at too.

Happy Gift Giving!

A Holiday Gift Guide for Littles!

'Tis the season for gift giving!
I love putting together these gift guides for our littles. Last year's Christmas was so sweet, and so simple, ages three + one desired nothing but a big snoopy + some books... pie. I've really been trying to push the question "What would you like to GIVE?" this year with our kids, their answers vary + typically circle back to what they want to GET (abel) haha! But it is worth the try for sure. It's important to me to practice the act of giving, and especially them giving at a young age + being thoughtful about others. An idea to practice this is heading to the dollar store, giving them money in hand + letting them pick a few things for each other vs me buying it all and labeling it for them.  I think it'll be sweet. As far as my own shopping goes, Abel has been very clear about what he'd like, Isla needs next to nothing, and I have struggled harrrd with what to get Lucy! Over all though, they are pretty easy to please, so I think they'll be happy. Here's where we landed, hope it inspires some ideas for you and your own!

Buying toys is hard for me, most of the toys at our house have been gifted to us, and we are thankful for them. However, toys have proven to bore them pretty quickly, and so I try to be suuuper choosy when it comes to purchasing. Abel's one request this year was that pirate ship... fair enough. He's been all pirates for a year and a half now, so he will be thrilled. I am separating the characters into both of the older kid's stockings, to hopefully encourage playing together... i mean, you need the whole crew right?? stay tuned on that. Otherwise, he mostly needed some new clothes, he's getting good at puzzles, and I picked a few things that I knew he'd enjoy but not think to request.

L U C Y
Two is so sweet... she has no requests. So for her I went mostly with pretend play, which she loves. Every morning she wakes up and immediately asks for her tights, so she can go to her "class"... it's so funny, she's not in any type of dance class + hasn't seen one, she just knows that her cousin goes + shows up to family dinner in tights, so CLASS! + she must go too! it's so precious, so i got her some pretty tutu skirts (HERE) + tights, and i also got isla and myself some, so we can use them for tea parties.

I S L A
Merry Christmas Isla! I've swooned over that bunny for at least a year now... it's the softest thing you will ever feel in your life, you're welcome. Also, shoes, a few clothing pieces, and jammies from our favorites, L'ovedbaby.
Books are a forever staple around here. We read at least three books every night as part of our bedtime routine + i love that, and hope it's something our kids will always enjoy + remember.
We are probably MOST excited for bunk beds... the kids bedrooms are little + going up is a better option than going out. They have talked about bunk beds for about a year now + so we are going to rearrange + surprise them on Christmas morning. I'm certain they are going to be over the moon. When Abel sees that red ship wheel on the wall he is gonna flip. I can't wait!

a baby wishlist, round 3!

Hello Monday, and surprise! We are having another baby!
...Okay, just kidding, you already knew that ;)
Every once in a while, I like to put together a little wish list or gift guide for the kiddos, and with baby number three (& another girl) there really isn't much that we NEED thankfully, but it is still always fun to put together a few things that would be in the want category, and especially when you are shopping through a fun site that makes it THAT much more enjoyable to do so!
ps — there’s a code at the bottom of this post for 10% off your next order through said website!
People, The Baby Cubby...
Man, do I wish I had known about this website when I was a first time parent! The Baby Cubby is for every parent out there who has ever felt overwhelmed or discouraged about becoming a parent. The team is made up of actual parents, who have been there and can say, "me too!" They are passionate about encouraging, inspiring, and reminding parents how amazing and important they are, and they prove it by finding the best and safest baby gear and providing it in a fun shopping experience. This is not "just another baby website" where you scroll & scroll through baby stuff, just to end up with a cart full of numerous items that your pregnancy app told you that you needed, but that you don't really know enough about, and so you never end up pulling the trigger at check out due to the combo platter of indecision + lack of information... this is seriously my secret struggle: confessed. The Baby Cubby does things like test strollers on their stroller track, price match everyday - even amazon (amazon addict, say whaaaat?!), offer free shipping nationwide (on orders over $49), and actively engage with shoppers via social media and the cubby community blog to discuss some of the many topics of parenting.
Sold.
Putting this wish list together through their website was pie, and only got me more excited for our sweet girl's arrival! On to the goodies...

1. A swaddled baby is seriously Heaven. We have swaddles on swaddles, but we don't have these to die for Little Unicorn Swaddles, fruit... i mean, naturally they are at the tippety top of my want list.
2. I'm a sucker for a Little Piggie. I think I've had one picked out for each of our kiddos before they were born + never actually bought one, but third round just feels right.
3. We are ALL ABOUT 100% natural ingredients when it comes to our babes. This Tubby Todd gift set, please + thanks.
4. This Glider Board is among our few NEEDS + is already on the way to us. When we had Lucy, we bought the city select stroller in red and have LOVED it. Now that we're having a third, the glider gives us another way to grow in this stroller + have all our kids on board! We also feel like we've totally earned the parent console too + since we'll officially be outnumbered, I feel pretty good about my Starbucks in a cup holder + my hands free to catch any runaways ;)
5. Let's be real here + admit that of alllll the cute little outfits you see + spend money on for babies, newborns spend most of their time in jammies (or at least mine do). This sleeper looks so comfy + sweet.
6. Kickee Pants is one of my very favorite baby brands. SO soft. Gimme allllll the babies in the softest jams.
7. These Balls are the best! Little fingers can hold them so easily, plus when they start crawling, nothing encourages that more than things that roll!
8. It's no secret that we LOVE books. I might even be on my way to children's book hoarding, so these babylit Books definitely make the list.
9. Hoodie and Leggings... stop.
10. It's been so nice to be able to share + take turns with baby gear having my sisters around with their kiddos, and us all having them at different times! This time though, I'm so excited to be pregnant at the same time as Ashton. This also puts us in need of a Bouncer, since she so graciously let us borrow hers last time around :) I've only heard great things about 4Moms products, so I'd be excited to get my hands on this one.

As always, thank you for stopping by to see what we are up to!! Please use the code HELLOSUGARHILL to receive 10% off your order at babycubby.com, code expires may 28th.

lucy is turning one! a gift guide!

i truly can't believe lucy is going to be a year old in a few weeks, or that we are celebrating another first birthday for that matter! we are so excited to celebrate her life, she is such a joy + truly brings delight to our souls daily... we couldn't be without her!
as we gear up for her birthday + also gift giving season right around the corner, we are seriously simplifying around here + being extra choosy with what we keep in our home. i think it's important to do so as our family grows, as we prepare to move into our new space, and just as a general rule!
for her birthday i put together a little gift guide as to what we think she would enjoy!

1. blocks on blocks on blocks... i mean can you have too many blocks? abel thinks not. tall towers to the sky! i LOVE these retro, wooden blocks (my sister has a set from Clothes Pony here in town.) these HERE are similar too, and we love that brand of toys!

2. these lovies are so soft + sweet. lucy "gives love" to all the the little stuffed animals she comes across, sooo precious. these can be found HERE, or at Clothes Pony here in town!

3. more blocks! these plush blocks HERE are awesome, we play with them at my sister's all the time! they're big + soft, and also have fun inserts that make noise. (PURCHASED)

4. oy... this one's tough for me. i'm not a huge fan of baby dolls, mostly because they're creepy. BUT, lucy is such a little mama. she loves + wants to hold and kiss and hug alllllll the babies. it's probably top 10 of the sweetest things i've witnessed. SO, for her i'll do it. arrow got THIS ONE a little while ago + it's eyes don't move + it's not going to "mama" in the night or anything, so i suppose it'll do. (PURCHASED)

5. new moccs. THESE oh joy!/FP ones are darn cute. size 3

6. THIS quilt is SO gorgeous, it's been a long time wishlist item. if lucy is anything like her mama, it could be the first of manyyyy gorgeous quilts :)  (PURCHASED)

7. books, books, and more books! books are another thing i believe you can't have too many of EVER. i've seen book guides on a lot of blogs along the way + these are a few that look so fun to me! they can all be found on amazon!

thanks for stopping in! i hope you're having the loveliest of days :)

the christmas list they didn't even know they had...

Just a few sweet things that my littles don't even know they have on their Christmas wish lists this year! Some are already on the way + others maybe Santa will bring! They already have all that they need so it was fun to shop for a few little things that i just love + want for them.
Happy Thursday!
