happy valentines day.

our valentines day was DELIGHTFUL!
seriously, my favorite valentines day ever.
first of all... i'm married to the best valentine in the world, husband :)
SECOND:
he made our night so so special. he tricked me into thinking that he didn't do anything at all. he just kept apologizing and saying that he couldn't believe he had put it off and not thought of anything to do... ha! well... i came home & what did i find? the coziest of blanket forts EVER... something i had been wanting to do for a loooong time :) complete with twilight, pizza, champagne, flowers, a teddy bear, a card & of course cupcakes... SHAPED into a HEART ladies & gentlemen!! YES, he did it all himself :) he is the best man ever. we love eachother everyday & it is our priority to make eachother feel loved, special, and appreciated... doesn't make Valentines any less fun!

i hope YOUR valentines day was wonderful as well!
xoxoxo
happy valentines day! love, harlow

beautiful.

found this on pinterest. so beautiful, had to share :)
Why the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger:
The Chinese give a beautiful explanation to this. The thumb represents your parents. The index finger represents your siblings. The middle finger represents yourself. The ring finger represents your life partner. The little finger/pinky represents your children. Hold your hands together like the picture. Join your middle fingers back-to-back, and the remaining fingers tip-to-tip. Now, try to separate your thumbs. They will separate because your parents are not destined to live with you forever. Rejoin your thumbs and separate your index fingers. They will separate because your siblings will have their own families and lead their own lives. Rejoin your index fingers and separate your little fingers/pinkies. They will separate because your children will grow up, get married, and settle down. Rejoin your little fingers/pinkies and try to separate your ring finger. They will not be able to separate because your life partner is meant to be with you throughout your entire life, through thick and thin.

happy weekend! xoxo

8 years later..

8 years ago today, chris asked me to be his GIRLFRIEND!
now i am his WIFE of almost 2 years.
i am SO happy that i have dated such a wonderful man for all this time & that he is my forever :) i still love him as much as i did that day, and so so much more!
lucky me! thank you Jesus! here's to our relationship officially being a third grader ;)
i love you husband!

God be praised.

because i'm alive, i give You my life.
because i am free, i bow at Your feet.
because i am loved, i'm able to love.
because i am Yours, my worth is secure.

God be praised♥
forever we will shout Your name.
Lord over all, You left Heaven for earth,
Your glory for us, risen King be lifted high♥

a new perspective.

meet hillary.
would you ever in a million years tell this precious angel that she is anything less than God's perfect creation?..... me neither.

i am someone who, for as long as i can remember, has struggled with body issues. maybe it's because i grew faster than all the other kids when i was young, so i was always taller/bigger than them. or maybe it was because i danced, and started seeing beauty with a "hollywood mentality" from a young age. for whatever reason, body issues have always been a struggle of mine.

there have been good periods & bad ones. days when i find myself completely and totally beautiful and no one could talk me out of it. and also days where all of my "flaws" seem to be screaming at me to notice them.

i always tend to be harder on myself than i am on other people. not just with appearance, but also with forgiveness, judgements, etc. if i meet someone who has a less than "perfect" body, i don't think about how horrible they look or dwell on their cellulite, or decide they aren't beautiful. when a loved one falls short of my expectations, i forgive them. so why when it comes to myself, am i harsh & judgemental & at times unloving??

while talking with my friend jessica today, she said something to me that gave me a brand new perspective. she told me to think of myself not as the 23 year old Hillary, but as the little girl Hillary. the precious little 5 year old Hillary from the picture above. So if I'm supposed to think of myself as that... i think of how gentle I'd would be toward her. if she made a mistake I'd help her, if she was feeling down, I'd sweetly encourage her, and I would NEVER ever tell her anything other than how beautiful she is. because she is COMPLETELY BEAUTIFUL.

"it's easier to be kind to little Hillary than it is to be gentle with tall Hillary. to God you are a baby girl so He is extra gentle with you. let yourself be His baby. He can handle weaknesses."

too true. in one simple text from a friend, my perspective was completely changed.

God created me knowing that one day, that little girl would grow into a beautiful woman. A beautiful woman with a dancer's body that He designed specifically for her. A beautiful woman with a huge heart. A beautiful woman who continually trys to be the best she can be. A creative woman. A loving woman. An encouraging woman. A faithful woman. A friend. A sister. A wife. A Daughter. A woman who creates for HIS glory. A leader. ... among so many other things.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16

it could not be put more beautifully or perfectly than that!
i will forever remember what my dear friend said to me & i will think of little Hillary when i start to be unloving towards myself. i will remember the way God loves her, the way i love her, and the lesson that she taught me. :))

what a beautiful lesson.

my heart is full & i am filled with joy. i love myself. i love my God. i am thankful for encouraging friends! please check out my friend Jessica's blog. she is an amazing leader & woman of God. You can visit her HERE or find her button on the side bar, "Beauty is radiant."

love yourself. YOU too are fearfully & wonderfully made!

dear husband.

dear husband.

i love you with all of my heart. you are my best friend in the entire world. thank you for being YOU. loving. thoughtful. funny. giving. loyal. forgiving. patient. talented. handsome. and SO many more descriptive words that i am unable to think of in this moment...

it's tough when i try to write it out on paper. describing my love for you? whoa. it can be frustrating. you would think it would be SO easy, but when you get down to it... i love you SO much that it can't even be described. because it is the most special connection i have ever experienced with another person, i find myself speechless. however, full of feelings :) YOU amaze me. you are an incredible leader for our family. i TRUST you with everything.

divine love.

i love when you smile at me and when you laugh at my jokes. i love how you laugh. i love how forgiving you are when i act bratty. i love your 'i just did something' smile. i love when you teach me things. i love how you play games. i love how you treat others. i love your humility. i love your heart. i love your hands. i love your eyes. i love every bit of you.

thank you for being my husband. for CHOOSING me every day. for choosing HIM every day. i love you more than more penguin.

love, your wife.

not only are they loving & kind, but i admire them so much. spencer & the twins are 3 of the hardest working, most dedicated people i know. they do whatever it takes. i dream of having the drive & strength that they have. i love them SO much, probably more than they will ever know.
love on your family. love on your people :) because nothing else matters.
LOVE GOD. LOVE PEOPLE.

over the weekend.

husband and i had a GREAT weekend spending quality time with each other. he is my best friend ever. marriage is a beautiful thing :)
our weekend consisted of a lovely walk in this new fall weather we are getting... 50's & 60's!! lots of soup, a dollar movie, puppies, & bundling up on the couch.
homemade chicken&&dumplings!!! find the recipe HERE :)
hope you enjoyed a wonderful weekend as well! happy monday!

heroes.

okay ummm heroes? .... was a GREAT show. why in the world it isn't continuing to be a great show is beyond me. husband and i are finishing up a marathon of seasons 1-4 now && i'm seriously beginning to get sad that we are nearing the last episodes... why? WHY?! is it over?!
not ideal.

if i were in charge, heroes.. along with the OC, dirty sexy money, & will&grace would still be on air. is it sad that i get SO attached to fictional characters & their fictional drama?? ummm... NO. i'm just deeply caring... :)) ha!

it would be wise for the writers of grey's anatomy to stay on their game & NEVER let that show end... or there will be words.
love, hillary

She is one of the most creative people I know! We met through dance... this is where I first knew she had creative talent... Knock.Your.Socks.Off... THAT is not her only talent though. She is a beautiful woman of many trades. Here is a bio from her website, talking about her newest venture... jewelry design!

"I am an earring designer and crafter based out of Denver, Colorado. I've always had a knack for arts and crafts and an eye for fashion, and I have focused these talents into one art of designing earrings. I am constantly trying to figure out what is next and push the limits of people's fashion bubbles. Check out my work, and thank you so much for visiting my site."
